Today, we officially announce the upcoming shutdown of the Neo Legacy Network.

Launched in October 2016 (originally as AntShares MainNet), Neo Legacy has been running and serving the Neo ecosystem for over 8 years. So far, Neo Legacy has produced over 14 million blocks, supporting 213 categories of assets, processed over 281 million transactions, and supported nearly 3 million addresses. It's where many Neo developers began their journey and brought their dreams to life.

In June 2021, the Neo ecosystem evolved with the launch of Neo N3 — the next-generation blockchain designed to replace Neo Legacy. We originally promised to maintain Neo Legacy for at least one year, and have extended support beyond that. Now, as part of our commitment to advancing Neo’s technology and focusing our efforts on the future, we have made the decision to sunset the Neo Legacy Network.

We deeply thank all developers, users, and partners who supported Neo Legacy over the years. As we enter a new era, we invite you to move forward with us. We kindly ask that you review and act on the following important steps.

🗓️ Shutdown Timeline

• Neo Legacy TestNet Shutdown: June 1st, 2025

• Neo Legacy MainNet Shutdown: October 31st, 2025

💾 What Will Be Preserved

A final snapshot of the Neo Legacy network will be taken before the shutdown. This snapshot will archive essential data and preserve the historical state of the network for reference. 

🧹 What Will Be Erased

After the shutdown, block production on Neo Legacy will come to a permanent halt. Users will no longer be able to transfer assets, migrate tokens to other networks, or deploy and develop smart contracts on the network. All core functionalities will cease.

Required Actions (⚠️ Important⚠️ )

All assets and smart contracts remaining on Neo Legacy, TestNet and MainNet, must be migrated to Neo N3 before the official shutdown. Otherwise, they will be permanently lost.

Trusting any third-party portals may result in asset loss. Stay SAFU!

• To migrate smart contracts, feel free to reach out in our Discord channel — our developer community is ready to support you every step of the way.

The Neo team will also coordinate with centralized exchanges to handle the custodial assets on Neo Legacy. 

Consensus node operators are advised to shut down their nodes following the respective shutdowns of the TestNet and MainNet.
